Sam's Club Electronics Recycling and Trade In Program		Sam's club has established a partnership with EcoNew which allows people to dispose of or recycle old electronic devices. They will actually give you money for some items. Just keep in mind if you ever recycle an old computer you will want to destroy, take out, or use a program to wipe the contents of you hard drive.

DEP Searchable Recycling Database		This is a GREAT tool to get county by county information to locate DROP OFF of any item! Just enter the item and your zip code and all the available resources are listed! Finally someone made recycling a little easier!
Allegheny County Health Department Recycling		Allegheny County Health Department has a directory of places in Allegheny County which accept various materials for recycling -- from glass containers to telephone books to many other items.

In 2005, the EPA estimated that unwanted electronics represented 1.9 to 2.2 million tons. The majority of these products, about 1.5 to 1.9 million tons, were discarded in landfills with only 345,000 to 379,000 tons recycled.

A "phantom load" is the energy that's sapped by appliances when they're plugged in, but not on. Use power strips or manually unplug DVD players, computers and cell phone chargers to save electricity from disappearing without a trace.

Save big on your energy bills. In the average home, 40% of all electricity is used to power home appliances while they're turned off.

Lower emissions. If all phantom loads in US homes were stopped, we could shut down 17 power plants.

Power strips with surge protectors make it easy to "unplug" many appliances at once.

Oil and tree savings. In the United States, 12 million barrels of oil and 14 million trees go to producing plastic and paper bags each year.

Save energy. Recycling an aluminum can takes 96% less energy than creating a new one.

Less landfill. According to the EPA, 75% of Americans' trash can be recycled, but only 25% actually is.

If 10,000 shoppers used reusable totes instead of plastic grocery bags, we'll keep about 9 million bags out of landfills every year.
